RIVERHOUSE

LOWER KETTLE RIVER, MN

Perched on a bluff of Minnesota’s Kettle River Wild and Scenic corridor; this house, its bunkhouse and studio consists of three major remodelings of an original ranch style house, a pole barn and a work-shed. The new house, through its varied spaces, allows one to experience both it and its exquisite setting in a multitude of ways: from sheltered exterior spaces; through open or contained framed openings; in areas for people to gather, or in alcoves for private retreat. The majority of building materials are recycled or reused from sources as diverse as repurposed power poles, deconstructed urban warehouses and salvaged windows, lumber and paneling from the original buildings.
